ACT NYOLOHA T-SHIRT COMPETITION

The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) invites designers to participate in a competition to design the 2024 limited edition of the ACT Nyoloha Scholarship Programme T-shirt, capturing the spirit of the ACT Nyoloha Scholarship Programme. If you have a flair for design or you enjoy being creative, then its time to get your artistic juices flowing. We’re looking for a youthful T-shirt design that reflects the 2024 theme of the programme which is #NyolohaAfrica: Our Canvas, Our Voice, Our Future. Think African modes of storytelling, performance, and visual art with a consideration of immersive technologies. Whether it’s through striking visuals, inspiring typography, African prints and patterns, or thought-provoking artwork, let your creativity run wild and make a powerful statement!

HOW TO ENTER

Step 1: Create an original design (single entry) inspired by the theme #NyolohaAfrica: Our Canvas, Our Voice, Our Future.

Step 2: Submit your original design digitally in high-resolution PDF (CMYK) format.

Step 3: You will receive a notification message that your submission has been received. Deadline for submissions is 30 June 2024.

2023 ACT x DEVOLUTIONERY!

Terms and conditions:

  1. Eligibility: The T-Shirt Image Design Competition (the “Competition”) is open to individuals who are legal residents of South Africa and are at least 18 years old at the time of entry. Employees of the Arts & Culture Trust, their immediate family members, and anyone professionally associated with the competition are not eligible to participate. 2024 ACT Nyoloha Scholarship Programme participants are also not allowed to enter the competition as well as competition winners from the previous year.
  2. Submission Guidelines: Submissions must be original, unpublished designs, and no AI-generated images will be accepted. Designs should be submitted in digital format (PDF) and should not exceed 10MB in size. Designs must be suitable for printing on a t-shirt and should not contain offensive, explicit, or copyrighted content. Participants must not include any personal identifying information within the design file.
  3. Entry Period: The competition entry period begins on 17 May 2024 and ends on 30 June 2024. All submissions must be received by 30 June 2024, 17h00 SAST. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  4. Judging Criteria: A panel of judges selected by the organising company will evaluate and select the winning design based on the following criteria:
  • Creativity and originality
  • Relevance to the theme
  • Visual appeal and design quality
  1. Prizes: The winning designer will receive: A cash prize of R2 500, an MTN Hamper and the opportunity to have their design featured on a limited 2024 edition t-shirt line of the ACT Nyoloha Scholarship Programme.
  2. Winner Notification: The winner will be notified by email or phone within 30 days of the end of the competition. If the winner does not respond within 24 hours of being contacted, the prize will be forfeited, and an alternative winner will be selected.
  3. Intellectual Property: By submitting a design, participants grant the Arts & Culture Trust a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display the design for promotional purposes, including but not limited to featuring the design on the limited edition t-shirt line.
  4. Disqualification: The Arts & Culture Trust reserves the right to disqualify any participant who fails to comply with these terms and conditions, submits inappropriate content, or engages in any form of cheating or fraudulent activity.
  5. Publicity: By entering the competition, participants consent to the use of their names, likenesses, and designs for promotional and publicity purposes without additional compensation.
  6. General: The Arts & Culture Trust’s decisions are final and binding in all matters related to the competition. The competition may be modified, suspended, or cancelled at the Arts & Culture Trust’s discretion. Participants agree to abide by all applicable laws and regulations. By participating in the T-Shirt Design Competition, participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
