ACT chats to Raymond Motadi, emcee of the 2015 ACT Scholarships final, who is the host of SABC 3’s new reality show Talent on Track.

ACT: Has presenting and hosting been something you’ve always wanted to do?
Raymond: Presenting and hosting has always been something I’ve wanted to do. I always knew that I was born to be an entertainer, and presenting is a particular aspect of entertainment that I enjoy.
ACT: What were your highlights of emceeing the 2015 ACT Scholarships final?
Raymond: Hosting the ACT Scholarships final was an incredible experience. I recall the audiences’ reaction to my presenting style, which is very theatrical. I remember the different costume changes I had, and I thoroughly enjoyed the touch of comedic incorporation into the script, which allowed my personality to shine. Hosting the ACT Scholarships final was a pivotal event in my life, which helped me to prepare for this moment in my career.

ACT: What have you been up to since hosting the ACT Scholarships final?
Raymond: In addition to hosting the scholarships final, I co-hosted the breakfast show on TshwaneFM. I then got the opportunity to host my own show called KoBioscopong on online TV channel called WiFi TV. The opportunity with WiFi TV exposed me to the television industry and harnessed my skills as a presenter.
ACT: Can you tell us more about Talent on Track?
Raymond: Talent on Track is a reality music show, which celebrates South African music by giving bands a platform to express their musical talent. Bands across all genres are eligible to enter, including funk, rock, jazz, pop, dance, rap and even acapella. At the moment we are getting to know 7 bands that each plays a different genre of music, and are hoping to have our next 7 bands soon. The show airs every Saturday at 09h00 from the 12th of November 2016 on SABC 3.

ACT: What are your plans for the future?
Raymond: My big plan for the future is to run my own entertainment empire, with the focus being on TV and radio. I want continue to not only entertain, but to create entertainment that will live on and inspire. There are many layers to me as an entertainer. I don’t want to be boxed in; I want to explore different avenues of entertainment.
ACT: Do you have any advice for aspiring performers and/or presenters?
Raymond: The advice I would like to give to other aspiring entertainers is for them to follow their hearts and to never give up. They must tell they own stories.
