The iVisible platform on the Invisible Borders Trans-African Photography Organisation website aims to enable storytelling of the friction that exists between what is seen and what should be seen. What are those remarkable experiences that challenge your preconceived perception or stereotypes of the African reality? That friction is broadly interpreted, as broadly as what is meant by Invisible Borders. iVisible takes its life from the work of the Organisation across Africa where certain stories can be told only by the witnesses. It is understood that it is the person who directly experiences an event that is best suited for its narration. In this regard iVisible is news, reflection, and narrative originating from you.
Who can participate?
iVisible welcomes submission of photographs and text which tell a story about an event related to Continental African and African Diaspora reality. Anyone from all walks of life can participate regardless of race, ethnicity or gender.
Please submit only one photograph at a time and not more than 500 words of text. Although it is expected that entries will range in subject matter, the organisers will be on the lookout for iVisibles that revolve around an event, a place or a story that is broadly interpreted. Ensure to read iVisible’s terms and conditions before making a submission.
The best three entries of every month will be showcased on the website and disseminated across the Invisible Borders network via their newsletter and social media platforms. At the end of the year, a book publication is made out of the best 36 entries. Two entries are singled out for the iVisible Award and iVisible Special Prize respectively.
