The AfrikaBot competition is fully supported by the University of Johannesburg, the UJ TechnoLab that will be offering a series of workshops to assist those wanting to participate to build the AfrikaBot. The rules of the AfrikaBot competition, where robots will be electronically timed through a maze, allows for all types of equipment to be used. The scoring system favours home-built electronics and the use of recycled materials, and requires environmentally friendly robot power.
