Cape Town creatives will have the opportunity to sketch, scribble, colour and collaborate on ideas at a unique doodling session on 6 August hosted by the Cape Craft & Design Institute (CCDI) in partnership with Nando’s Hot Young Designer 2015 competition – the #HYD2015 Doodle Session is part of the CCDI’s Night Market, which has rapidly become a popular First Thursday Cape Town event.
Nando’s representative, Louise McCann says: “The Hot Young Designer competition is about providing an opportunity for young South African creatives to get involved in Nando’s very exciting collaboration with South African designers. Under 35’s are challenged to design a beautiful, usable remarkably crafted pendant light fitting that will bring an inimitable South African design magic and a sense of authentic South African connection into the interior of a Nando’s restaurant – wherever it may be in the world.”
The fun and interactive doodling session will give creatives an opportunity to play with design ideas, and encourage them to enter the competition, which closes on Monday, 14 September.
More details about the competition including the prizes for the winning design can be found on the Nando’s website http://www.nandos.co.
The session will be facilitated by 1000 Drawings – Doodle for a Difference, a community-driven empowerment project.
There will be plenty more in store for visitors to the CCDI Night Market on 6 August. This month the CCDI will be celebrating Women’s Month with a line-up of about 20 women-owned businesses selling a range of products.
In addition, there will be food and drink, including craft beer, to add to the shopping enjoyment. Food trucks will be parked on the street where visitors will be able to buy gourmet pizzas straight from bespoke ceramic pizza ovens from Earthfire Pizza, as well as Polynesian-inspired treats from the Wahine Food Truck.
The Night Market takes place from 17h00 to 21h00 on the corner of Harrington and Barrack streets.
