Public call to civil society and the public to exhibit and host events at the 7th Jozi Book Fair, Wits University from September 11-13 2015. Jozi Book Fair (JBF) creates readers and writers in all languages and supports publishers to make books affordable. We do this with the support of civil society.
This year the theme of the fair is Children’s Literature & Childhood and the Guest of the Fair is the renowned storyteller, Gcina Mhlophe.
The fair is however open to diverse interests, issues, debates and discussions.
Anyone can exhibit and/or host an event at the fair as long as it is related to ‘the word’. This includes books, ebooks, poetry, rapping, research, newspapers and newsletters and all art forms (literature, photography, film, graffiti, music, comics, and fine arts).
The JBF is a platform for debate and discussion and will assist to make your information and work accessible to people of all groups and the public.
Last year almost 70% of events were hosted by members of the public. Events included book launches, conversations with authors, programmes for schools and children, film and art exhibitions, seminars and workshops.
In 2014 2 000 people attended the fair, besides schools and children. This year, the Wits University venue facilitates the participation of broader sections of the public.
The deadline for applications to Exhibit/Host events is Friday, 31 July 2015.
